A Nordic Celebration

The Sámi-speaking people welcome a new translation of God’s Word

There was celebration in Finland, Sweden, and Norway as the Bible Society released a new Bible translation in Northern Sámi after 30 years of hard work. The previous Sámi Bible was nearly 125 years old and was difficult to understand, especially for young people.

Tapio Luoma, an Archbishop in Finland, says, “We can now use this new, fresh, and understandable translation in all our Sámi-speaking congregations. We trust the message which God wants to tell us in the Bible will become clearer through this translation.”

Please join us in prayer for Nordic Christians as they celebrate this new translation of God’s Holy Word:

“Be joyful always, pray at all times, be thankful in all circumstances. This is what God wants from you in your life in union with Christ Jesus” – 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18 (GNT).

Thanks to the support of our faithful financial partners, American Bible Society has been engaging people with the life-changing message of God’s Word for more than 200 years.

Help us share God's Word where needed most.
