CUBA: Sign Language Bible Strengthens Deaf Christians

A new Bible translation brings God's Word to life for deaf people.

American Bible Society’s financial partners are bringing the Scriptures to Cuba’s deaf community through a sign language Bible, translated through a partnership with the Biblical Commission of Cuba and Cuban Council of Churches. “God is doing an amazing work in Cuba,” says American Bible Society’s Senior Vice President of Ministry Geof Morin, who visited the translation project in January 2017. “The Scriptures are coming alive for an often-overlooked language group.”

Translators are currently working to have the books of Luke and Acts translated and distributed by 2019. The new sign language Bible, which is published through digital videos and DVDs, is bringing the life-changing message of God’s Word to deaf people in Cuba, many of whom do not easily read Spanish.

Thanks to the support of our faithful financial partners, American Bible Society has been engaging people with the life-changing message of God’s Word for more than 200 years.

Help us share God's Word where needed most.
