Modern New Testament Arrives for the Georgian People!

“When I read this Bible…it creates many thoughts in my heart.”

The people of Georgia, a country at the intersection of Europe and Asia and a former Soviet Union state, recently celebrated the joyous arrival of the New Testament in Modern Georgian. While Christianity has deep roots in this region, Georgians did not have Scripture in their heart language that could be easily understood — until this New Testament arrived.

The excitement and enthusiasm at the unveiling event was overwhelming, says Avtandil Guruli, Executive Director of the Bible Society of Georgia. “This was, without a doubt, the most important cultural event for us this year.”

Nino, a young student, was thrilled to receive his copy of Scripture. “When I read this Bible, I find it full of inspiration for us young people in Georgia. It creates many thoughts in my heart.”

This new translation ensures the Word of God is available for the youth of Georgia and for generations to come. One student shared, “When I was reading this translation, I suddenly realized that God’s Word must indeed be accessible and understandable for everyone, young, old, educated, or non-educated, just as the Apostle Paul said.”

This is exactly the kind of eternity-changing difference your support of Bible translation makes!

But there is much work to be done. About 1.5 billion people still don’t have a full Bible in their language! The ongoing support of friends like you will help continue critical translation efforts of God’s Word across the globe.

Thanks to the support of our faithful financial partners, American Bible Society has been engaging people with the life-changing message of God’s Word for more than 200 years.

Help us share God's Word where needed most.
