Mission: Literacy lessons are currently being taught in 138 tutoring groups in 100 sites in 97 cities across the United States, including 16 newly opened sites in Hawaii.

Stretching overseas, new Mission: Literacy sites have opened in Ghana, Kenya, the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia (including Guam) and more recently in Australia.

In many sites, tutors have adapted Mission: Literacy into an English Language Learner (ELL) tool for adults whose second language is English. This use of the program prompted American Bible Society to again work with the Bank Street College of Education to develop a more extensive ELL curriculum, which has an estimated launch date in the summer of 2012.
