Revised Tiv-Language Bible Launches in Nigeria

One recipient: “I think this new Bible will achieve exciting new things!”

Nigeria’s large Tiv-speaking community received a powerful new tool for evangelism recently: the Revised Tiv Bible was officially launched by the Bible Society of Nigeria in the city of Makurdi before a gathering of more than 750 Christians.

The vast majority of the country’s more than four million Tiv people are Christians. They have had the full Bible in their language since 1964, but many of them, particularly young people, find the language outdated and difficult to understand.

“I think this new Bible will achieve exciting new things!” Bible recipient Aguveren Uza said. “We plan to use it for evangelism, especially in rural areas.”

Will you join the American Bible Society in praying with Aguveren Uza to that end? We are grateful for financial partners who help make possible the distribution of God’s Word in remote regions like this … and others around the world. And we rejoice in advance for all who will read and cling to this precious truth: “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32 GNT).

Thanks to the support of our faithful financial partners, American Bible Society has been engaging people with the life-changing message of God’s Word for more than 200 years.

Help us share God's Word where needed most.
