Sanchir lives in the remote mountains of Mongolia, many miles from the nearest city.

Before receiving her Bible, Sanchir used to live solely for herself. But now that she’s discovered God’s Word, she’s a changed woman.

She and her family were so grateful to receive their very own copy of God’s Word, after having to travel far to meet with their Bible groups.

“The Bible Society’s staff arrived at our house and gave us the Bibles,” Sanchir says. “We were so grateful … I used to be a quick-tempered person. God’s Word changed my bad habits.” Sanchir is one of the fortunate ones. Mongolia is a country of almost three million people, and Christianity has made enormous advances. But there’s still much work to be done.

While only two percent of the population identifies itself as Christian, we thank God that doors have been opened to sharing God’s Word in this nation and that a Bible Society has been established. And with an increase in openness to receiving God’s Word, there’s a greater need for additional translations.

“A country with a young Christian Church needs a lot,” said Bayar Garamtseren, Mongolia Union Bible Society project manager. That’s why Garamtseren is managing the production of a new Bible translation in Mongolia — to make the Bible more accessible to the average Mongolian.

“It will be a translation clearer, accurate and understandable for the readers,” Garamtseren said. American Bible Society is also helping the Bible Society set up a program that will help thousands of Mongolians engage with the Word of God. This project will change lives by bringing God’s Word to people in a format they can easily understand and embrace.
