WOW: Inner-City Gospel Outreach

Winning Our World International (WOW) is working with local churches to reach inner-city residents

Winning Our World International (WOW), working with 325 local churches, reached
more than 98,269 people in multiple ways. Approximately 72,900 inner-city
residents attended at least one of 33 one-day events. Some 10,010 people signed
salvation cards, heard the gospel, received Scripture, participated in group
prayers or sought guidance for life-threatening challenges. Some received
counseling and accepted invitations to join local churches, and 10,028 people
signed up for church-led activities such as afterschool programs, youth
activities and Bible studies. To date, 750 people from New Orleans, Los Angeles
and New York are active in ongoing discipleship programs run by local churches.
More than 500 pastors offered their churches as volunteer training and baptism
venues. They provided follow-up information and invited new believers to their
churches. A total of 4,818 volunteers took part in the one-day events, praying,
serving food, counseling, distributing Scripture and collecting salvation cards.

“I should not be alive today. I survived a serious car accident without a scratch. I have done
many bad things to people and lived an angry life after my father abandoned me and my
sisters. I want to change my life because I am tired of running from God. This event has
helped me understand that in spite of my efforts to run ways from God, he still loves me. I
want to get saved and tell him that I am sorry for all the pain I have caused. I am tired of
all the hurt, to myself and others.”
— Timothy Bolden, WOW Jam attendee

The project exceeded all five of its benchmarks.

This project achieved or exceeded all five project goals as a result of thorough
planning and collaborative execution of the events. WOW and partner churches
have effectively monitored individuals who signed up for ongoing discipleship.

The outreach program has the potential to impact lives in the long term. WOW
remains a strong partner and capacity builder for inner-city churches working to
bring life-changing ministry and God’s message of salvation to people in
inner cities. WOW is actively exploring funding for the next phase of the
project with ABS and other donors.

Thanks to the support of our faithful financial partners, American Bible Society has been engaging people with the life-changing message of God’s Word for more than 200 years.

Help us share God's Word where needed most.
