I remember waking up, hitting the snooze button and hoping my situation had somehow changed overnight. I felt trapped by a circumstance I couldn’t control—a situation with no visible escape. I had no choice but to trust God for a resolution that felt beyond reach.

This feeling of helplessness made it difficult to focus on anything other than my fear and anxiety. I couldn’t shift my attention, make important decisions or live a peaceful life until my situation improved. But here’s the thing: I had no idea when this “improvement” would happen. I felt utterly hopeless.

Can you relate? Maybe you feel trapped by a dead-end job. Maybe you feel trapped by a long-term illness. Maybe you feel trapped by your empty bank account. Whatever the situation, you feel helpless—and you need an escape.

In my situation, I tackled my anxiety by clinging to God’s Word, constantly rereading, reciting and revisiting passages of Scripture. When life comes crashing down, you can do the same, relying on God’s Word for peace and hope.

These four Bible verses will get you started:

  1. Romans 15:13 (GNTD)
May God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace by means of your faith in him, so that your hope will continue to grow by the power of the Holy Spirit.
  2. Isaiah 12:2 (GNTD)
God is my savior;I will trust him and not be afraid. The Lord gives me power and strength; he is my savior.
  3. Philippians 4:7 (GNTD)
And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus.
  4. Philippians 4:13 (GNTD)
I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me.
