American Bible Society Celebrates New Philadelphia Home

Tomorrow: Ribbon Cutting with City and Religious Leaders

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 7, 2015—

American Bible Society will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house to celebrate its new Center City headquarters. The nearly 200-year-old organization moved to the nation’s most historic block in July.

The city of Philadelphia has welcomed American Bible Society with open arms, and we are thrilled to call this city home,” said Roy Peterson, American Bible Society’s president and CEO. “This new headquarters was designed to serve as the hub of our operations as we enter our third century of ministry and pursue a vision to see 100 million Americans engaging the Bible and 100 percent of the world’s languages translated for Bible engagement.

American Bible Society employs some 200 people, most of whom work in its new office across from the Independence Visitor Center. Its prime location provides an opportunity for the ministry to interact with tourists as they visit Philadelphia—as well as providing space for future expansion. The ministry has plans to develop an interactive Bible exhibition on the first floor of its building for visitors to Independence Mall and historic Old City.
