Lent: A Season for Biblical Meditation

This Lenten season, meditate on God’s Word through a seven-week devotional from American Bible Society.

On Ash Wednesday, Christians around the world will begin observing Lent—a 40-day spiritual journey leading up to Holy Week. With Christmas behind us, we shift our eyes from Christ’s cradle to his cross, preparing our hearts to remember his death, and to celebrate his triumphant resurrection from the dead.

Paralleling Christ’s 40 days alone in the desert, the season of Lent traditionally involves fasting and self-denial for Christians—spiritual disciplines that help believers repent of their sins and turn to God in prayer.

This Lenten season, whether or not you remove certain foods and practices from your daily routine, consider adding regular Bible reading to your spiritual diet.

One way to dive deeper into the Bible during Lent is to subscribe to a seven-week Lenten devotional from American Bible Society. Once a week for the seven weeks of Lent, you’ll receive Scripture and an inspirational reflection via email, helping prepare your heart for Easter.

Please join us in meditating on God’s Word as we anticipate the death and resurrection of our Lord.
