Pray for Mexico in Aftermath of Another Earthquake
Join us in asking God to comfort the hurting people of Mexico as they recover and rebuild
Just 12 days after an 8.1-magnitude earthquake rocked Mexico, a second earthquake shook the nation. On Tuesday, September 19, a 7.1-magnitude quake rippled across the country, claiming more than 200 lives. Approximately a quarter of Mexico’s population lives in and around Mexico City, an area the most recent tremor left in chaos.
We are grieving with Mexico and seeking God in the midst of this destruction. We thank Jesus that he knows our pain and is with us in our suffering. Scripture reminds us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18b NIV).
We invite you to join us in asking God to bring his peace to the people of Mexico.
- Pray for God to comfort those who lost loved ones.
- Pray for courage for those sorting through the rubble that was once their homes and businesses.
- Pray for wisdom for church leaders in Mexico and Bible Society of Mexico as they care for their neighbors in this time of intense need.
- Pray for hope for the people of Mexico, who need to know the God of love is near to them.
As you pray, be encouraged by these words from Psalm 46, which remind us that God is with us and comforts us.
“God is our shelter and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.
So we will not be afraid, even if the earth is shaken
and mountains fall into the ocean depths;
even if the seas roar and rage,
and the hills are shaken by the violence.
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge”
(Psalm 46: 1–3, 7 GNT).
