First Bible for Nigeria’s Epie People Nearly Complete

Join us as we pray for the Epie people to have a full Bible in their heart language

The Epie tribe lives along the Epie Creek in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. They live in mud homes with roofs made of leaves from palm trees. And they make their living farming and fishing.

Epie speakers long for a Bible in a language they can speak, understand, and relate to. They long to hear what the God of the universe has to say to them. Currently, there is no Scripture published in Epie, which is their primary language. But praise God, work is underway!

Translating the Bible into Epie

To get God’s Word in the hands of the Epie people, Bible Society of Nigeria built a translation team and a complete Epie Bible translation is now just two years from completion.

By the end of 2021, our prayer is that the Epie people will have the Old and New Testament in a language that speaks to their hearts. They will be able to connect with God’s words of love in a language that brings joy to their hearts.

Over the next two years the Bible translation team is working to:

  • Finish translating the Old Testament
  • Finish editing the New Testament
  • Publish both the Old and New Testament

You can help the local church in Nigeria complete this Bible translation through your prayers! Your prayers offer the spiritual support needed to get this project over the finish line.

Will you join us as we pray for this translation to be completed so Nigeria’s Epie people can experience the life-changing messages of the Bible?

Let’s Pray Together

God, we pray for the successful completion of the first Bible for the Epie people of Nigeria. Please give wisdom, strength, and grace to the translation team. We pray that the Epie people will enjoy the treasures found in your Word by the end of 2021.
