A Gift of Faith: Partner Story

Lillian R. Schafft who lives in Virginia was inspired by an article she read in the Record magazine about Brian Waite, a chaplain who baptized soldiers in the Tigris River in Iraq. The article gave her a vision to take action. So she recruited her church to gather funds for military Bibles and sent a generous check to American Bible Society.

Long before Lillian became a successful grassroots fundraiser for our military men and women, she was a major donor to the Bible Society. Thanks to her faithfulness for more than 22 years, hundreds of people around the world have had their needs met through God’s Word.

At 84, Lillian donates to Habitat for Humanity of the greater Charlottesville area and is active on its advisory board. For Christmas, she took out new Bible-A-Month Club memberships for her entire family (five grandchildren and their parents).

As a forward-thinking person, Lillian has considered her legacy and has graciously chosen ABS to receive a future bequest in her Will.
