Acts of Love for Kenyans in Need

Bible Society of Kenya cares for those affected by the coronavirus

In Proverbs 3:27, the Bible says: “Whenever you possibly can, do good to those who need it.” And that is exactly what Bible Society of Kenya is doing.

As the nation grapples with more than 730 COVID-19 cases and 40 deaths, Bible Society of Kenya is doing all it can to care for those affected by this deadly virus.

Sharing God’s Love and Hope

Like most nations, Kenya is taking precautionary measures to keep the coronavirus contained. Five counties, including the capital Nairobi, are on lockdown. Travel has been limited to only essential services. A national dusk-to-dawn curfew is in place and all social gatherings have been banned.

Yet in the midst of this restrictions, Bible Society of Kenya has found ways to serve those in need during this difficult time. They are caring for others through:

  • Bible-based trauma healing ministry. This ministry uses Bible-based curriculum to empower suffering people to find healing in God’s Word. Through online trauma healing sessions, Kenyans are taking their pain to the cross for healing from trauma.
  • Feeding street families and children. As the economy suffers loss from closed industries such as restaurants and hotels, Bible Society of Kenya is feeding those worst hit.
  • God’s Word. The Bible Society is providing families, those hospitalized, and other people affected with access to Audio Scriptures and the JESUS film.
  • Prayer. On March 21, 2020, Bible Society staff joined in national prayers for God’s intervention in saving Kenya from the debilitating effects of COVID-19. And they continue to pray daily for God’s healing and protection.

As Jesus modeled selfless love by laying down his life for others, so is the Bible Society of Kenya and many other Bible Societies around the world. Daily they labor to help, serve, and care for those hurting in their communities.

Let us pray for God to strengthen them so they can continue to be the hands and feet of Jesus to many in their nation.

Let’s Pray Together:

Father we pray for Kenya. We pray for the protection of all Kenyans from COVID-19. Heal those infected with the disease. We also pray for the work of Bible Society of Kenya. We ask you to provide the resources needed to share food and Scriptures with their people.
