Answered Prayer: Bible-Based Trauma Healing Impacts Prisoner

Testimony of Transformation through Bible-Based Trauma Healing Ministry

Join us in thanking God for working in the life of a prisoner named Edwin through a recent Bible-based trauma healing group hosted by American Bible Society in Bolivia’s capital city, La Paz.

Bible-based trauma healing is a ministry that shares the message of hope found in Scripture to those wounded by trauma. During group sessions, facilitators use mental health best practices and the comfort and promises in God’s Word to help participants like Edwin find hope and healing. Thank you for praying with us for Bible-based trauma healing work that’s happening around the globe! We’re excited to share how your prayers have been answered in the life of Edwin.

Answered Prayer

Edwin said that prior to coming to the Bible-based trauma healing group, he struggled to find help that would truly address the wounds from past trauma. He felt solutions that people tried to give him were superficial. Some people suggested that he should be happy as a Christian. Others told Edwin to practice psychological quick-help ideas. But nothing addressed his underlying pain.

However, as Edwin engaged with God’s Word through the Bible-based trauma healing curriculum, he experienced a breakthrough. Edwin used to believe that God punished him for not being good enough, or that he was responsible for helping himself. Through Bible-based trauma healing, he realized that those assumptions weren’t true. Edwin experienced joy in learning about Christ’s love and forgiveness; he found peace in God’s comfort and by giving God control of his healing.

When he reflected on his experience, Edwin shared these words:

“As I looked to Scripture and Christ, the deep doubts of my heart and mind were replaced with confidence in God and rest in His purposes and in His good plan for me. I can’t even describe the joy I experienced taking my pain to the cross in the presence of brothers who care for me, affirming together God’s watch and care over each of us.”

Prayer of Praise:

God, we praise you for Edwin’s journey toward healing. We celebrate that your Word brought healing and hope in his life. Please help many more people experience the healing, hope and peace that only you can bring. Amen.
