Celebrate: International Day of the Bible

Join us for a worldwide celebration of God’s Word

On November 24, 2019, you are invited to participate in International Day of the Bible. On this day, people around the world express their love of the Bible. At noon, millions will pause to either read, listen, or share God’s Word through different creative means.

Here are three ways you can take part in this global celebration:

  • Share God’s Word. Either on social media or in person, share your favorite Bible verse. Let others see how God’s Word has impacted your life.
  • Pray for people still waiting for God’s Word in their language. Pray for approximately 165 million people who do not have even one sentence of Scripture in their own language.

Why Bible Translation is Important

Many of us enjoy the privilege of reading the Bible in the language we speak—English, Spanish, Chinese—but did you know, there are more than 1,700 languages with no access to Scripture? The Bible still needs to be translated for languages like Nubaca, Pambia, and Ushojo. Speakers of these languages have yet to hear about God’s goodness in the language they speak.

Thankfully an alliance of Bible translation agencies called Every Tribe Every Nation (ETEN), is working to ensure 100% of the world’s languages has a Bible translation by 2026. Their desire is that every man, woman, and child will have access to the life-giving words of the Bible.

ETEN works to accelerate Bible translation by training translators, providing technology, and raising funds for this critical work. Because of these efforts, people now have God’s Word in their language like the Javanese people of Suriname.

Let’s pray for Bible translation projects to be started and completed so that everyone has an opportunity to hear God that loves them in their own language.

Let’s Pray Together:

God, we thank you for your Word. We believe it is lamp for our feet and a light for our path (Psalm 119:105). We pray that you would increase our hunger to read the Bible. And we pray that you would help all those working to translate the Bible. Give them wisdom and strength to complete the task.
