New Bible Offers Hope for America’s Heroes

Pray for first responders to experience the comfort found in God’s Word

Every day, brave men and women put their lives on the line for others. Firefighters, emergency medical technicians, and law enforcement risk their safety to rescue those in danger.

But this line of work can take a toll.

Because of the challenges these heroes face on the job, many first responders suffer trauma. They battle anxiety, depression, burn out, post-traumatic stress disorder, and suicidal thoughts.

God’s Word reminds us that Jesus wants to replace these heavy burdens with his peace, John 14:27 says,

“I give you peace, the kind of peace that only I can give. It isn’t like the peace that this world can give. So don’t be worried or afraid.”

Bibles for Heroes

God’s Word has the power to heal trauma and bring peace. That is why American Bible Society has designed Scripture resources for first responders.

  • First In, Last Out is a custom suite of resources for firefighters and emergency medical service members. This suite contains a Bible and a devotional of first-hand accounts by first responders that address the difficulties encountered on the job.
  • Strength for the Street is a custom suite of resources for federal, state, and local law enforcement and corrections officers. This suite includes a Bible, a collection of topical verses for the difficulties these officers might encounter on the job, and a devotional that offers practical encouragement and spiritual formation.

To date, Strength for the Street Bibles and devotionals have been distributed to chaplains and members of law enforcement in 27 states. First In Last Out Bibles and devotionals have been distributed to chaplains and members of the firefighters and EMTs in 10 states.

Praise God! His Word is bringing encouragement to first responders across America. But that’s not all. Recently, we partnered with WNTP 990 Talk Radio to provide Bibles for heroes.

We’re praying that every first responder will have a Bible. Will you join us?

Let’s Pray Together:

God, thank you for first responders. We pray that you keep each one safe. And we pray that they will turn to your Word for comfort and strength.
