We have exciting news! In 2018, more than 38.5 million full Bibles were distributed around the world. That’s millions of people now connecting with the powerful messages of hope found in God’s Word. Millions who now know they are loved by Jesus.

This incredible feat was done by a network of 150 Bible Societies working in over 240 countries and territories. Motivated by their core belief that the Bible is for everyone, Bible Societies labor daily so every person can access the Bible in the language and medium of their choice.

With your prayers and support, Bible Societies have been able to share God’s Word in increasing numbers. Annually, Bible distribution continues to grow! Last year, in North America, there was a 6 percent increase in the distribution of full Bibles and in Africa a 9 percent increase.

Here are more 2018 distribution highlights:

• 354 million Scripture items were distributed, including Bibles, New Testaments, Gospels, and smaller Scripture items like booklets

• 17% of Bibles distributed were internet downloads

• 1.5 million+ children’s Bibles were distributed

• 61% of Bibles distributed were in Spanish, Portuguese, English, Chinese, and French

• 1 million+ Bible internet downloads in Spanish, English, and Portuguese

• The top five countries for Bible distribution were Brazil, United States, China, India, and Nigeria

A Celebration in Cuba

Another incredible moment came when Cuba’s five-year goal to supply one million Bibles had finally been reached! On June 2, 2018, nearly 90 Bible Societies, hundreds of Cubans, and international ministry partners gathered in Havana to honor the distribution of one million Bibles in Cuba.

In this beautiful island where the Communist government had banned Bible distribution for more than four decades, God’s Word was placed in the hands of one million believers. Praise Jesus! And the church in Cuba continues to grow in its hunger for God’s Word.

Alaín Montano, general secretary of the Biblical Commission of Cuba, says, “As the people of God in Cuba, we want to make it possible for every Cuban to have a Bible. These are exceptional times and we depend on God and his Word.”
