Pray for Healing for Persecuted Christians in Niger

Pray for persecuted Christians in Niger to be emotionally and spiritually healed through Bible-based trauma healing ministry

In 2015, Boko Haram, an Islamic extremist group, set out to destroy Christian communities in Niamey and Zinder, Niger. These mobs looted homes, ransacked businesses, destroyed missionary schools, and burned down churches. Many Christians were robbed of their possessions and even beaten for their faith.

These gruesome events left thousands of Christians trauma-stricken and overwhelmed with grief.

But God’s Word can heal the deep wounds of their hearts as they read his promises of love, hope, and healing. That’s why the Bible Society of Niger and local churches are providing Bible-based trauma healing to these Christians.

Bible-Based Trauma Healing Ministry Brings Healing to Christians in Niger

Bible Society of Niger and local churches are using a Bible-based trauma healing ministry to respond to traumatized Christian communities across Niger. This Bible-based trauma healing ministry that was first launched by American Bible Society is designed to help people take their pain and suffering to the cross for healing, using a combination of mental health principles and Scripture.

One man who participated in a healing group said, “It was through the listening to the Word…that I was healed from the trauma. The words of Jesus that say, ‘I give you my peace’ have healed me.”

We thank God for this testimony of healing and ask you to join us in praying for all the Bible-based trauma healing sessions taking place across Niger.

Here’s how you can pray.

Pray for:

  • Healing for Participants. Pray for all those participating in Bible-Based trauma healing sessions—persecuted Christians as well as other traumatized Nigerians—to experience God’s healing and peace as they read Scripture and take their pain to the cross.
  • Church Collaboration. Ask God for fruitful collaboration between churches and Bible Societies within the region that increases resources and advances impact.
  • Strength for Nigerien Believers. Ask God to strengthen and protect believers as they rebuild their Christian communities, share their stories of faith and restoration, and encourage others who have experienced trauma.
