Prayer Request: Churches Exploring a New Way to Read Scripture
Pray for increased Bible engagement as churches try a new Bible-reading tool
Reading and studying the Bible is an important part of spiritual growth. Yet many church goers don’t read the Bible on a regular basis.
To help change this, we’re partnering with church leaders and Biblica to ignite a renewal of Bible reading in their churches through a program called the Community Bible Experience.
The Community Bible Experience takes participants through an 8-week journey of the New Testament. They read from The Books of the Bible, a New International Version of the Bible published by Biblica to help readers understand the complete story of the Bible using purely Bible text. There are no chapter or verse numbers, no study notes, no red lettering and no footnotes. Removing these features allows the reader to experience the beauty of God’s story, uninterrupted.
Starting in March, churches in Philadelphia and Charlotte will participate in the Community Bible Experience through the Season of Lent.
Pray that God will give every church going through the Community Bible Experience a renewed passion for reading the Scriptures and that people will be transformed as they read its life-giving words.
- Increased Bible engagement in churches. Pray that leaders, pastors and congregants would experience a new or renewed passion for reading the Bible as they take this journey together.
- God’s blessing as we invite more churches in various cities to participate in the Community Bible Experience.
- People reading their Bible regularly to experience God in new and powerful ways as he speaks to them through the Scriptures.
Thanks to the support of our faithful financial partners, American Bible Society has been engaging people with the life-changing message of God’s Word for more than 200 years.
Help us share God's Word where needed most.
