Urgent: Pray as Violence Escalates in Haiti

Ask Jesus to bring peace and justice to this unsettled nation

Haiti is in desperate need of prayer. Years of government corruption, extreme inflation, and natural disasters have made it nearly impossible for Haitians to survive. There is limited food, almost no gas, and now there is violence in the streets.

Fed up, mass anti-government protests have erupted in cities throughout Haiti. Rioting has led to increased violence. People are afraid to leave their homes. The nation is in turmoil.

Our colleague from Haitian Bible Society shared the following: “We are going on day three of schools closed and just got word it will be Monday before they try to open. That means no school, no learning. We are in a gas shortage. No gas means people don’t work, transportation is at a halt. Market is blocked this morning with metal gates and rocks. People can’t feed their family because the cost of food is so high.”

Haiti needs a change! And God can do it. God wants to bring justice and healing to this beautiful nation. Will you join us as we pray for Haiti?

4 Ways to Pray for Haiti:

  • Pray for the violence to stop. Ask God to bring peace, ending all violence, rioting, and crime.
  • Do good instead of evil and try to live at peace.” Psalm 34:14
  • Pray for the Haitian people. Pray that every Haitian will have access to basic necessities such as food, water, shelter, and medical care. Also pray God will bring healing to their bodies and spirits.

“I pray that God will take care of all your needs with the wonderful blessings that come from Christ Jesus!” Philippians 4:19

  • Pray for the government. Ask God to turn the hearts of government officials so that they lead selflessly and do what is right for the Haitian people.

Don’t do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble toward one another, always considering others better than yourselves. And look out for one another’s interests, not just for your own.” Philippians 2:3-5

  • Pray for the Bible Society and local churches. Ask God to strengthen them to be the light of Jesus during these dark times. Pray for their needs, as they are also struggling.
  • “Make your light shine, so that others will see the good that you do and will praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
