The year 2020 has been filled with loss: loss of loved ones, loss of jobs, loss of community. More than ever, we need the comfort of God’s Word.

To that end, we’ve made a list of scriptural truths that you can declare whenever your situation feels overwhelming. If it seems like only God can solve your problems, that’s because He can.

I am determined and confident in God.

“Remember that I have commanded you to be determined and confident! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for I, the Lord your God, am with you where you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

I feel grounded in God’s Word and love.

“Hold firmly to the true words that I taught you, as the example for you to follow, and remain in the faith and love that are ours in union with Christ Jesus. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, who lives in us, keep the good things that have been entrusted to you.” (2 Timothy 1:13–14)

I trust that God is always with me.

“Be determined and confident…. Your God, the Lord himself, will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

I have victory over fear.

“For the Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid; instead, his Spirit fills us with power, love, and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

I know I am protected and safe in God.

“Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, can say to him, ‘You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust.’ He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases. He will cover you with his wings; you will be safe in his care; his faithfulness will protect and defend you.” (Psalm 91:1–4)
