The Ukraine crisis has become one of the bloodiest European conflicts since the early 1990s. Russia’s invasion into eastern Ukraine has not only displaced families, but it also continues to endanger lives. Fighting and landmines have already killed thousands.

More than 2 million people had to flee their homes as refugees. The most densely populated and industrially productive part of the country has been devastated. Entire communities have fallen into poverty, and the COVID-19 crisis has only made matters worse.

Their faithful generosity reaches out with comfort and hope to children like Yana* through God’s Word. When their gifts allowed American Bible Society to give her a Bible at her school . . . she was thrilled!

Yana is from a large family that faced many struggles. Surrounded by poverty, joblessness, and violence from her alcoholic father, it would be easy for her to lose hope.

But just one Bible would change the lives of Yana and her family.

At first, her whole family opposed learning about the Bible. But she brought the Bible home and began reading it anyway. Over time, her siblings and parents joined Yana in accepting the teachings of Jesus. This one Bible brought a family of six to Christ!

Now, Yana’s father is seeking employment to support his family once again, and there is no more alcohol at home.

“The atmosphere of happiness is reigning in our home, and I am very happy,” Yana says.
