In Memoriam: The Rev. Dr. Robert Galveston Bratcher April 17, 1920-July 11, 2010
This July marked the passing of a Bible translation hero. Dr. Robert Bratcher (in glasses) was a distinguished translator who worked with American Bible Society and United Bible Societies from 1957 to 1981. His most important project was the preparation of the draft Good News for Modern Man New Testament, which was published in 1966 and later became known as the Good News Translation.
American Bible Society President R. Lamar Vest said, “The Bible translation community has lost a luminary. We honor Dr. Bratcher's dedication to making the Word of God available in everyday language so that all may experience the Bible's life-changing message.”
Thanks to the support of our faithful financial partners, American Bible Society has been engaging people with the life-changing message of God’s Word for more than 200 years.
Help us share God's Word where needed most.
