In the only pediatric hospital in Nicaragua, in Managua, cancer is a leading cause of death for children ages 10 to 19. The Bible Society of Nicaragua is meeting the needs of these pediatric cancer patients and their families with spiritual care and biblical materials. It is training and equipping pastors, volunteers and medical personnel to provide emotional and spiritual support. One patient who received an illustrated Children's Bible said, “I don't like being in the hospital because the medicine makes me hot inside and hurts so much…but, when…my mother reads the Bible to me, it calms me. It somehow makes me feel less uncomfortable and more peaceful. I can feel God's love for me.”
