Lectionautas Captivates Teens in Latin America
In June, American Bible Society sponsored the first New York Catholic Bible Summit to encourage Bible engagement among Catholics. Some 400 Catholic leaders and lay people participated in the day-long event that included educational sessions and a celebration of the Mass.
In a speech at the Summit, Oscar Cardinal Rodríguez, Archbishop of Tegucigalpa, Honduras (pictured above) announced that, “1.5 million teenagers in Latin America are involved in daily online Lectio Divina interaction, thanks to American Bible Society.” He impressed ABS President Lamar Vest with the value of Lectio Divina in Latin America, where it is called Lectionautas. Specially designed for youth, Lectionautas is an interactive, online weekly program for prayerfully reading the Scriptures. Since 2006, ABS has been supporting the development and implementation of Lectionautas in 17 countries.
Thanks to the support of our faithful financial partners, American Bible Society has been engaging people with the life-changing message of God’s Word for more than 200 years.
