Martina* and her family have lost so much.

Flooding in Argentina, where they lived in a small mud hut, took their home and left them with nothing. The West Toba speakers were forced to relocate and many now live in tents, including Martina.

“The most difficult time was when there were no fish in the river and we did not have food to eat,” she recalls. The mom of seven says they searched in the mountains to gather fruit and wild meat.

And yet, despite everything they lost, they gained something even more important, thanks to the support of friends like you — God’s Word translated into their heart language.

Martina and others received their very own copy of Scripture in West Toba!

“I was very happy when I received the New Testament,” Martina shares. “When I read it, I understand what it says. Before, I had the Bible in Spanish, but I did not understand it. Thanks for having it in our language.”

With her very own Bible, Martina says handling the challenges of her life comes a little easier. “The New Testament gives me peace and joy when I read it. The New Testament has helped me draw closer to God. The Bible has changed me. The Bible changed my thinking and behavior.”

Martina admits that the flooding and moving were difficult. However, she says, “The Bible has helped me deal with this situation. The Bible has helped me not to be angry with God. The Bible has given me hope.”
