Lisha* was devastated when, at 43 years old, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. As the youngest in the family, her siblings rallied around her and began to talk to her about placing her faith in God. Lisha’s mother loaned her a Bible, and she began reading the New Testament.

But just a few years later, Lisha received another overwhelming diagnosis: lung cancer.

“I prayed and asked God to have mercy on me,” Lisha remembers. “In the midst of my despair, God comforted me and gave me faith and strength! Even though my surgery was painful, and my body reacted strongly to chemotherapy, it didn’t break me. People around me were curious about how a small person like me (I only weighed about 79 pounds at the time) could be so healthy. But I knew it was the mighty hand of God upholding me.”

Lisha was so excited to receive a Bible of her own through the generosity of our dedicated partners. She is deeply grateful to know there are brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world who help provide Bibles in countries where they are so scarce.

Now, Lisha can say, “The Bible is part of my life. I can’t live without it. God’s Word has given me hope.” Through reading the Word of God, Lisha was convicted of her sin and surrendered her life to Jesus.
