7 Truths from the Bible About God’s Blessings
God delights in blessing his children
“Ask, seek, knock!”
You’ve probably heard these often-quoted words from Matthew 7. In this passage, Jesus shares a comforting truth about our heavenly Father: God gives good things to those who ask him.
So why do we struggle to ask God to bless us?
Maybe you feel inadequate. I don’t deserve God’s blessings, you think. I’m a bad person. I haven’t done anything to earn them. Scripture responds that, if you trust in Jesus, you have been saved by God’s grace—the biggest blessing you could ever receive!
Maybe you’re stressed. I really need that raise before the end of the year, or I won’t be able to pay my bills, you worry. I’m tired of asking God to bless me! The Bible teaches that God will take care of you. You can trust him to provide everything you need.
Maybe you’re jealous of what other people have. I wish I had that new job, or new car, or new relationship, you grumble. Why won’t God give me what I want? Scripture warns that this world is passing away, and our hearts should belong to God, not to possessions.
God’s Word is clear that he delights in blessing us. And Jesus’s words in Matthew 7 remind us that our heavenly Father will give good things to those who ask him.
Here are seven truths about God’s blessings.
God is the giver of all good gifts and every blessing.
Every good gift and every perfect present comes from heaven; it comes down from God, the Creator of the heavenly lights, who does not change or cause darkness by turning.
James 1:17 GNT
God blesses those who trust in him.
“I will bless the person
who puts his trust in me.
He is like a tree growing near a stream
and sending out roots to the water.
It is not afraid when hot weather comes,
because its leaves stay green;
it has no worries when there is no rain;
it keeps on bearing fruit.Jeremiah 17:7-8 GNT
God’s blessings are our only true source of wealth.
It is the LORD’s blessing that makes you wealthy. Hard work can make you no richer.
Proverbs 10:22 GNT

God is able to give you more than you need, so that you will always have all you need for yourselves and more than enough for every good cause.
2 Corinthians 9:8 GNT

blessing us with kindness and honor.

to those who do what is right.Psalm 84:11 GNT

may all the peoples praise you!The land has produced its harvest;

may all people everywhere honor him.
