Tough Parenting Day? Take Heart with 6 Reminders from God’s Word

The Bible offers daily guidance for your parenting journey

When it comes to parenting, some days can knock you off your feet.

Maybe it was one temper tantrum too many. Or a tear-filled conversation with your middle schooler after a difficult day at school. Maybe it was an unkind comment that made you second-guess the choices you’re making for your children. Maybe it was yet another sleepless night, or another stress-filled day.

While raising the next generation is arguably the world’s most critical job, it can be easy to lose sight of God’s vision for parenting as you follow the daily rhythms of guiding, correcting, and teaching your children.

So, what do you do when you need some extra encouragement after a tough day?

Whether you’re feeling exhausted, discouraged, frustrated, or confused, God’s Word offers guidance, comfort, and helpful reminders about your role as a parent. Consider these six reminders from the Bible and rejoice in words of wisdom and hope from your heavenly Father!

6 VERSES TO CONSIDER ON TOUGH PARENTING DAYS

As you walk through difficult days and sleepless nights with your children, remember that God promises to be with us through everything we experience.

“Do not be afraid—I am with you!
I am your God—let nothing terrify you!
I will make you strong and help you;
I will protect you and save you.”

Isaiah 41:10 GNT

Remember that the children in your life are a precious gift from God.

Children are a gift from the LORD;
they are a real blessing.

Psalm 127:3 GNT

Look to your heavenly Father as the best example of a loving and compassionate parent.

The LORD corrects those he loves, as parents correct a child of whom they are proud.

Proverbs 3:12 GNT

Remember that your guidance and instruction will impact your children for the rest of their lives.

Teach children how they should live, and they will remember it all their life.

Proverbs 22:6 GNT

View moments of correction as positive steps toward a life of peace and righteousness.

When we are punished, it seems to us at the time something to make us sad, not glad. Later, however, those who have been disciplined by such punishment reap the peaceful reward of a righteous life.

Hebrews 12:11 GNT

As you look to God’s Word for daily strength, don’t forget to encourage your children to do the same—the Bible offers wisdom for children, too!

Children, it is your Christian duty to obey your parents, for this is the right thing to do. “Respect your father and mother” is the first commandment that has a promise added: “so that all may go well with you, and you may live a long time in the land.”

Ephesians 6:1-3 GNT
