Caring for the Wounded in Our Nation

Bible-based trauma healing offers peace to the hurting in a city-wide initiative

Bible-based trauma healing is helping countless people around the world heal from tragedies such as war, famine, domestic violence, and abuse. But did you know trauma healing is also bringing the healing power of Scripture to people here in the United States?

A network of prison and jail chaplains provide trauma healing ministry to inmates in 22 states and 88 facilities. In Camden, children like Shawn who lost loved ones to street violence have encountered Jesus’s peace after participating in healing groups.

And there’s a need to reach even more hurting hearts across America with God’s Word.

Jesus Heals Trauma

Trauma healing is a ministry that helps people begin the process of emotional and spiritual healing through Scripture. In groups of 6 to 8 people, trained facilitators help participants:

  • share their suffering and pain
  • read Scripture that reminds them of God’s nearness in suffering, and
  • take their pain to the cross of Jesus for healing.

And God is healing hearts. One participant recently said, “I thank God for this moment. I am so blessed for how God works with his people. I feel 100% healed.”

The Big Dream

Across the United States, trauma healing is helping people find peace in Jesus. In Kansas City, pastors and ministry leaders are praying that God’s Word will aid those carrying wounds from fatherlessness, racial injustice, human trafficking, homelessness, education inequality, and other societal issues. They’ve rallied volunteers and supporters to launch trauma healing in their city.

After starting in 2018, 90 people have become trained facilitators and more than 300 people have participated in healing groups. But that is only the beginning.

Kansas City leaders have a dream to have one central training center in their city that will equip all church and ministries in trauma healing. This requires a growing interest for trauma healing, volunteers, teamwork, funds, and lots of prayer.

Will you join us in praying for the continued growth of trauma healing ministry in the U.S. and for a trauma healing equipping center in Kansas City?

Let’s Pray Together:

God, the Bible reminds us in 2 Corinthians 1:3 that you give us comfort. Thank you for comforting those who are hurting in our nation through trauma healing. We pray for more healing groups in cities where there is brokenness. And we also pray for your help in creating a training center that would equip churches in Kansas City to better serve hurting souls in their city.
