Celebrate the Wonder of Christmas

Rediscover the true wonder of Jesus’s birth

Isn’t it amazing how children see the world through eyes of wonder? It reminds me of my son. As a little boy he often ran through my house as Buzz Lightyear exploring new galaxies or as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle defeating bad guys in my kitchen pantry.

But happens when we become adults? The older we get, the harder it is to fill our hearts with wonder. While Christmas captures our children’s imagination, it doesn’t quite move us like it used to. We no longer see it as “the most wonderful time of the year.”

Scripture tells us in Matthew 1:21: “Then after her baby is born, name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

This year, if you’re struggling to find the wonder in Christmas, look to the miracle of Jesus’s birth. Jesus left heaven and entered humanity to fulfill God’s master plan of eternal redemption for his people. You have a rescuer. That should take your breath away!

The Wonders of Jesus

Jesus’s birth fills our hearts with the wonder that he can do the impossible. He can go to the farthest corners of the earth to seek and save the lost.

Today, we are filled with awe that the little baby born in a manger one dark starry night is transforming lives around the world.

This Christmas, rediscover the wonder of Christmas as you see how the gospel is reaching lives around the world through the following ministries:

  • End-to-End ministry targets remote communities with low literacy rates, limited resources, and few churches to spread the Gospel. In 2018, 500,000 people attended Bible listening groups, 350,000 people received personal Scriptures and 28,000 decided to follow Jesus through this ministry.
  • Bible-based trauma healing ministry uses the power of Scripture to help victims heal from the pain of war, violence, abuse, or natural disasters. To date, trauma healing is in more than 100 countries and offered in 135 languages.
  • Bible translation is making the Bible available to every person in their own language. In 2018, 164 first Bible translation projects were started, serving more than 200 million people.
  • Armed Services Ministry shares the life-changing message of God’s Word with Military members, Veterans, and their families. In 2018, more than 1.235 million people in the U.S. Military community received Scripture resources.

Our Savior came Christmas day to rescue the world. Let’s thank him for the wonderful ways he is touching lives today.

Let’s Pray Together:

God, thank you for sending your Son to save us. Without him, we would be lost. We pray that the Christ of Christmas will fill our hearts with wonder. May we gaze upon the beauty of our precious savior, Jesus.
