.Bible Web Launch Facilitates Bible Engagement
Through new online platform, the Bible is more accessible than ever
In September, American Bible Society launched the new top-level domain .Bible as a platform to facilitate reading and engaging with the Bible. One of the first sites to launch on .Bible was American.Bible on Sept. 3. Ministry partners including YouVersion, United Bible Societies, Faith Comes By Hearing, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and other organizations will also be launching sites on the .Bible domain.
Through .Bible, people will be able to access Bible resources in centrally located digital space. This concentrated presence of Bible-based materials and opportunity for Bible engagement was never present in any other medium.
“The message of the Bible is unchanging, but how we deliver that message is constantly changing,” said American Bible Society Managing Director of Communications Andrew Hood. “This top-level domain provides a new opportunity for delivering the hope and encouragement found in God’s Word.”
Sites using the .Bible domain will be managed by groups and individuals who will focus on positive, Bible-related content and have a respect for the Bible. American Bible Society will monitor the .Bible domain to ensure that it continues to be used as a trusted, positive platform.
YouVersion Founder Bobby Gruenewald says, “We are thrilled to be paving the way as one of the first organizations using the new .Bible domain. We are passionate about leveraging technology to help this generation engage with the Bible, and this new digital environment will allow us to do just that.
.Bible is one more way American Bible Society is working to see 100 million people engaged with Scripture in the next 10 years.
Thanks to the support of our faithful financial partners, American Bible Society has been engaging people with the life-changing message of God’s Word for more than 200 years.
