A Psalm of Praise for Thanksgiving
This Thanksgiving, spend time with your loved ones reading about God’s love and faithfulness.
For most people growing up in the United States, the Thanksgiving holiday is one charged with vivid sights, smells, tastes and memories. The warm smells of turkey, stuffing or freshly baked pie transport us back to a place and time—perhaps gathered around a table (or a football game) with friends and family.
Many use Thanksgiving as a chance to stretch their memory all the way back to 1621, recalling the first Thanksgiving feast held in Plymouth, Massachusetts by our early Pilgrim and Puritan forbears.
Or maybe Thanksgiving evokes sad memories for you, reminding you of your loneliness, of strained family relations or of a loved one that you’ve lost.
No matter what memories surround you this Thanksgiving, we hope you’ll join us in pausing to remember God’s faithful love. Take a moment to pray through Psalm 100, perhaps as a part of your Thanksgiving meal with family and friends.
Reflect upon how you have seen God’s love and faithfulness this past year and then use your prayers to give him worship and thanks.
Psalm 100
Sing to the Lord, all the world!
Worship the Lord with joy;
come before him with happy songs!Acknowledge that the Lord is God.
He made us, and we belong to him;
we are his people, we are his flock.Enter the Temple gates with thanksgiving;
go into its courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and praise him.The Lord is good;
his love is eternal
and his faithfulness lasts forever.
