On the 4 ^th of July, Americans will celebrate the founding of the United States 240 years ago. While this holiday provides a special time each year to gather with family and friends, it also reminds us that our political freedom and religious liberty were established through the sacrifice and labors of past generations.

The Bible talks a lot about the freedom and liberty that God provides for his people, no matter what country they reside in. As our nation celebrates its political freedom this Independence Day, consider meditating on what the Scriptures say about spiritual freedom in Christ. Freedom is what we have—Christ has set us free! Stand, then, as free people, and do not allow yourselves to become slaves again.
