Freedom in Christ: Four Bible Verses for July 4th
This Independence Day, take time to reflect on the spiritual freedom found in Christ.
On the 4 th of July, Americans will celebrate the founding of the United States 240 years ago. While this holiday provides a special time each year to gather with family and friends, it also reminds us that our political freedom and religious liberty were established through the sacrifice and labors of past generations.
The Bible talks a lot about the freedom and liberty that God provides for his people, no matter what country they reside in. As our nation celebrates its political freedom this Independence Day, consider meditating on what the Scriptures say about spiritual freedom in Christ. Here are four Bible verses that you can use for personal reflection this 4th of July:
Galatians 5:1 (GNTD)
Freedom is what we have—Christ has set us free! Stand, then, as free people, and do not allow yourselves to become slaves again.
Romans 6:22 (GNTD)
But now you have been set free from sin and are the slaves of God. Your gain is a life fully dedicated to him, and the result is eternal life.
Isaiah 61:1 (GNTD)
The Sovereign Lord has filled me with his Spirit. He has chosen me and sent me to bring good news to the poor, to heal the broken-hearted, to announce release to captives and freedom to those in prison.
Romans 8:1-2 (GNTD)
There is no condemnation now for those who live in union with Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit, which brings us life in union with Christ Jesus, has set me free from the law of sin and death.
