Hurting Teens Encounter Jesus in their Pain
Pray for Sri Lankan teens to experience the healing and comfort found in God’s Word
“I was addicted to bad habits,” said Senura, a Sri Lankan teen. “I used to criticize people who are weaker than me and hurt and traumatize them.” Senura was carrying pain that enabled him to hurt others.
But Senura’s life was about to change.
Senura participated in a Bible-based Teen Trauma Healing program conducted in 2019 by the Ceylon Bible Society. Teen Trauma Healing is geared for teens ages 13-18. Using stories, games, crafts, art, music, and other activities, this program is designed to help traumatized teens express their pain and emotions in a safe environment. These teens are led through mental health informed and biblically based curriculum that helps them find healing for their heart wounds.
“From that moment my life was changed”
Although Senura knew something about Jesus before, he didn’t care much. But as Senura began to hear about Jesus’s love for him through Scripture, his heart was transformed.
“After getting to know about Jesus through this program I came to know that in this journey we have to heal someone’s heart, rather than breaking and hurting. I came to know who Jesus Christ is. From that moment my life was changed, only then I knew what was correct.”
Praise God! It was in seeing God’s goodness, forgiveness, and kindness, that Senura’s heart was healed.
Millions of teens face traumatic events and experiences every year. Like Senura, their hearts are hurting. It is in discovering who Jesus is, that their hearts can be healed from pain. We are praying that through the Teen Trauma Healing program that they’ll experience healing and freedom from the deep wounds they carry. Will you join us in praying for them?
Let’s Pray Together
Father, thank you for the transformation Senura experienced as he discovered who you are through Scripture. We pray for more teens in Sri Lanka and around the world to experience healing from the pain they’ve endured. God show them your love and comfort their wounded hearts.
