Please Pray: New Research on Trauma in America

Pray for churches as they offer hope to people facing hardships

Sadly, one in five American adults has been victim or witness to events that traumatized them in just the past 10 years. Whether its misogyny, child abuse, gun violence, extreme poverty, racial conflict or the most recent Covid-19 pandemic - these ills often rob people of hope and cause lasting suffering.

How can the church respond?

A new nationwide study by American Bible Society and Barna Group called, “Trauma in America” has uncovered the latest research on trauma and how the Church can offer hope. This research reveals the special opportunity and responsibility churches have in helping people heal from the wounds of trauma.

Bible-based Trauma Healing

With trauma comes the need for the church to care for the emotional and spiritual wounds experienced by victims and their families.

Churches can create an environment for bringing light and relief to those who are suffering but need to be trained and equipped. Helping traumatized individuals requires knowledge about trauma and grief as well as best practices for recovery.

Bible-based trauma healing ministry helps churches become places of healing for others. Trauma healing uses God’s Word to bring healing and restoration to trauma survivors. Using effective, field-tested program models, materials and training, people in the church learn basic trauma healing skills so they can come alongside those are who are suffering.

Our prayer is that the churches will be equipped to bring the hope and healing found in God’s Word to traumatized individuals across America. Will you join us?

Pray for:

  • Healing. Ask God to heal lives devastated by trauma. Pray for healing, joy, and comfort for people carrying deep wounds of the heart.
  • Churches. Pray that churches will use this new research to help make them aware of trauma in their communities and how best to serve those in need.
  • Trauma healing ministry. Pray for this ministry to be a tool for churches across America, equipping and training them to be places of healing.
