In late 2019, 11 Bible Societies came together with one mission in mind – to saturate Latin America with God’s Word. And they did just that!

Together, the Bible Societies of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela distributed more than one million New Testaments.

This incredible feat was made possible through the generous donation of a financial partner who provided New Testaments free of charge! We can’t help but be reminded of God’s promise in Isaiah 60:3 which says – nations will be drawn to his light.

Thankfully Latin American nations have been drawn to the light of Jesus because they now have access to his Word.

Reaching the Unreachable with God’s Word

Sharing God’s Word in Latin American countries isn’t without its challenges. Some local churches had to go to extraordinary lengths to distribute God’s Word.

In Argentina, there is a small town 4,500 feet above sea level where 365 people live. They don’t get many visitors. But one dedicated pastor travelled by horseback to this community. He went door to door delivering New Testaments. Although, it was a small number of people and a far distance, he wanted everyone to receive God’s Word. And for these people who don’t have televisions or phones, receiving a New Testament felt like Christmas in July!

There are many more stories like this. In Ecuador, New Testaments were given to nurses and doctors caring for Covid patients. In Nicaragua, 75% of the New Testaments distributed were given to youth. And in Cuba, 15,000 New Testaments were given to the Catholic Church for use in their house churches.

To date, more than 928,000 people across these 11 nations have received God’s Word. We thank God that thousands are coming to faith and engaging God’s Word. And we pray for lives to be transformed as they encounter God in the Bible. Will you join us?
