Pray for a New Bible Translation for One of the Oldest Nations in the World
Mongolia—A Nation Eager for God’s Word
Mongolia’s history spans over 5,000 years, making it one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Although much of the Mongolian way of life has remained untouched over the centuries, the people’s beliefs and religious practices have seen dramatic change.
Buddhism came to Mongolia in the fourth century AD, with Shamanism following soon after. But a 70-year Communist regime sought to eliminate all religious practice from the nation.
In 1990, the peaceful Democratic Revolution in Mongolia gave way to religious freedom, opening doors for Western missionaries and increasing the number of Christians in the region. Now, as the Mongolian church welcomes and supports a growing population of new believers, the need for Bibles is on the rise.
Translating the Bible into Modern Mongolian Language
Although a Mongolian Bible exists today, an updated version is in demand—one that uses modern translation techniques for improved readability and comprehension.
Through the work of a 12-year translation project, God’s Word will become available in a fresh new way to the 3 million people of Mongolia. Although the full translation will not be finished until 2028, Mongolian Union Bible Society is making completed portions of translated Scripture accessible through online platforms and audio recordings.
Will you join us in praying for this translation of God’s Word to touch the hearts of the people of Mongolia?
Let’s Pray Together:
God, thank you that the church in Mongolia is seeking you. We pray for all aspects of this translation project to go well so that believers in Mongolia can have access to your Word. Encourage the translation team, the local pastors, the Bible Society, and its partners as they work to make your Word available.
Thanks to the support of our faithful financial partners, American Bible Society has been engaging people with the life-changing message of God’s Word for more than 200 years.
