“Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so…” Many will recall these lyrics to the song “Jesus Loves Me” from childhood—a byproduct of growing up hearing the name Jesus.

But many people living in remote regions in Tanzania have never heard a song or seen a Bible verse to assure them of the depths of God’s love for them. There are many language, literacy, and resource barriers between Tanzanians and the Bible’s message of eternal life.

A written Bible is not immediately accessible to people from the oral cultures of the eight rural regions of Kagera, Kigoma, Manyara, Arusha, Dodoma, Iringa, Singida, and Morogoro in Tanzania. And since many families in these regions live on less than one dollar a day, they typically cannot afford to purchase Scripture materials for themselves.

God’s Word comes Alive

The End-to-End ministry, implemented by the Bible Society of Tanzania and supported by American Bible Society prayer and financial partners, is impacting Tanzanians in these eight rural regions through relevant, tangible innovations. The End-to-End ministry shares God’s Word with oral cultures through the JESUS film and an audio Bible in their heart language, and it places God’s Word in the hands of those who cannot afford it on their own.

Through End-to-End ministry, communities in Tanzania will:

• Be introduced to Jesus through the JESUS film, which tells the story of Christ as based on the Gospel of Luke
• Hear Audio Scriptures broadcast in their heart language to small groups, in partnership with Faith Comes by Hearing, and
• Receive personal copies of the Bible, if at least one family member is literate

This year alone, 24,000 people within eight rural regions in Tanzania are projected to encounter God’s Word in their heart language.
