Pray for the Amerindian People of Guyana
End-to-End Ministry Brings God’s Word to the Native People of Guyana
Located along coastal plains, mountainous ranges, and the Amazon rainforest are Guyana’s indigenous people—the Amerindians. The Amerindians are descendants of the first inhabitants of northern South America.
Although Guyana is an English-speaking country, tribes like the Wapishana and Patamuna have their own languages. And while children learn English in school, the tribal culture and daily life consist primarily of oral language traditions in native languages.
The New Testament was translated for the Wapishana and Patamuna people, which they have used for many years. But hearing and seeing the Bible’s message helps community members better absorb God’s Word in their heart language.
End-to-End Ministry
Suriname Bible Society is partnering with End-to-End, a ministry that makes God’s Word available in unique formats and alternative methods. Here’s how it works:
- Step 1: Show the JESUS film in the community’s language (visual)
- Step 2: Organize people into listening groups to hear Scripture (audio)
- Step 3: Provide Bibles to participants of listening groups who can read or are learning how to read (print)
This gospel-sharing ministry has been taking place among the Wapishana and Patamuna people since the beginning of 2016. To date, more than 20,000 people have received the gospel in the language and method they can best understand. Praise God!
The goal by the end of 2018 is to host 20 JESUS film showings and 30 new listening groups in the Wapishana and Patamuna villages. Also, 150 New Testaments will be distributed in each language to participants of the different listening groups.
Will you join us in praying for the End-to-End ministry as it delivers God’s Word to the Amerindian people?
Let’s Pray Together
God, thank you for the impact your Word is having on Guyanese tribes. We pray that as they see, hear, and receive your Word, their lives will be forever changed. Please open doors that bring your Word to even more people in Guyana.
