In November 2021, the YouVersion Bible App hit a whopping 500 million downloads since its launch 13 years ago. That’s more than any other faith-based app in the world!

YouVersion, a free Bible-reading app, began as a desire to make Scripture accessible to everyone. Today, it is inching closer and closer to achieving that goal.

Originally, the app provided Scripture in only English and Spanish. Today the app offers more than 2,600 versions of the Bible in 1,750 languages, including audio and sign language videos. The app also features guided reading plans, devotionals, and video teaching resources.

How You Can Pray

While millions of Christians around the world can now connect with the life-giving message of the Bible through YouVersion, for more than two billion people, God’s Word does not exist in the language they speak every day.

Thankfully the Digital Bible Library (DBL) was created to help get God’s Word to everyone waiting. Owned by the United Bible Societies, the DBL is a global repository for Scripture translations. By placing Bible texts into one easy-to-access location, YouVersion is able to distribute new Bible translations as soon as they become available. This allows users around the world to easily access the Bible in their native languages.

This unprecedented collaboration among Bible agencies is the reason we’re seeing God’s Word spread like never before across the earth. And your collaboration in prayer is also key! We invite you to pray for:

• YouVersion. Pray that people everywhere will connect with the Bible wherever they are in the language of their heart, through the app.
• Digital Bible Library. Pray for the continuing work of 150 Bible Societies around the world to translate the Bible into every living language by 2033 and to make these translations available for YouVersion, through the DBL.
• Life Transformation. Pray that as people read God’s Word in their heart language their lives will be completely transformed by its message of hope and love.
