Prayer Alert: More Violence in Syria
You are my hiding place; you will save me from trouble. Psalm 32:7
For more than eight years there has been ongoing conflict in Syria. Suffering from the devastating effects of war, Syrians want a better future. But now the conflict has escalated, causing more violence, more destruction, and more shattered lives.
Bible Society in Syria sent us the following report: “Many civilians have already died and thousands of them have been fleeing from their houses through the shelling and violent attacks. The churches have sent us the news that there are many injured, including Christians.”
Bible Society in Syria is doing all it can to provide God’s hope amid the violence. It is distributing Bibles, New Testaments, and children’s Bibles. The staff also visits and supports churches all over Syria. Amazingly, it has managed to keep the bookshop in Aleppo open every single working day of the Syrian conflict.
Now the staff is asking us to join them in praying for the violence to end. Syria stands in desperate need of the peace that only Jesus can bring. Will you join us in praying for Syria?
3 ways to pray for Syria:
- Pray for the people of Syria. Ask God to comfort and protect them. Pray for physical and emotional healing for those affected by the ongoing violence.
“Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the merciful Father, the God from whom all help comes!” 2 Corinthians 1:3 (GNT)
Pray for peace and stability. Ask God to end the fighting in Syria. Pray that God will bring justice and peace to the nation of Syria.
“Instead, let justice flow a stream, and righteousness like a river that never goes dry.” Amos 5:24 (GNT)
Pray for Bible Society in Syria and local churches. Pray for their protection as they continue to deliver God’s Word throughout Syria. Currently, there are not enough resources to meet the need. Pray for increased financial support to be able to provide the hope of God’s Word.
“I pray that God will take care of all your needs with the wonderful blessings that come from Christ Jesus!” Philippians 4:19 (CEV)
