Prayer Request: Bible Societies around the World
Ask God to help Bible Societies in their work of getting the Bible into the hands and hearts of the people in their nations.
American Bible Society is one of 150 Bible Societies working in more than 200 countries and territories around the world. This global network is called United Bible Societies (UBS). These Bible Societies, which have a mission to get the Bible into the hands and hearts of the people in their nations, need your prayers.
Prayer requests in their own words:
Our friends all over the world face difficult situations as they work to share the life-changing message of God’s Word with the people they serve. Here are just a few prayer requests they’ve mentioned:
- Bible Society of Jordan: “Please pray for stability in Jordan in the midst of the conflicts that surround the country; that people will interact with the Bible; that the physical and spiritual needs of refugees are satisfied…”
- Bible Society of Cameroon: “Thank God for our Bible translations and pray for the new translations: Podoko, Guidar, Mofa. Pray for protection over translators who live in unsafe areas.”
- Bible Society of Guatemala: “Please pray for the victims of violence in our country, so that they can recover through interaction with the Bible.”
Other items to pray for:
- Bible Translation: UBS is a world leader in Bible translation, completing 45-50 translations per year. Pray for God to guide and bless the numerous translation projects currently underway.
- Safety: Pray for Bible Society leaders and staff who are facing severe persecution for their work of sharing God’s Word. Pray for God to protect them, their families and Bible Society offices and resources.
- Scripture Distribution: On average the UBS fellowship distributes 32 million full Bibles each year. Pray that Bible work can continue effectively around the world despite wars, political tensions, changes in religious climate, economic hardship and frequent natural disasters. Pray for the successful distribution of Bibles in all nations, especially in countries where distribution is restricted or not permitted at all.
- Resources: Pray that God will provide the financial needs for Bible Societies who lack resources.
