Prayer Request: National Prayer Breakfast Bible Engagement Opportunity

Pray for God’s Word to impact those who attended the National Prayer Breakfast

The annual National Prayer Breakfast was held in Washington D.C., on Thursday, February 2. It was attended by approximately 3,500 guests, including international invitees from more than 100 countries.

The National Prayer Breakfast offers a forum for leaders of political, social and faith-based backgrounds to gather each year. This special event began in 1953 and has been attended by every U.S. President since Dwight D. Eisenhower.

At this year’s National Prayer Breakfast, American Bible Society distributed printed Scripture portions of the Gospels and Book of Acts to leaders in attendance.

The Bible portions were printed as a plain text narrative with no references, footnotes or commentary to appeal to the broad audience attending the event. While chapter divisions were maintained, verse divisions were omitted. In addition, there were approximately 30 commonly used Christian phrases that were translated in different ways to encourage engagement with this Bible portion.

Join us in praying for the leaders who attended the National Prayer Breakfast to engage God’s Word in the coming days. Ask God to guide them in experiencing the transforming presence of Christ and life-giving words of Scripture in the portions shared at the event.

Pray for:

  • Bible Engagement: Pray for National Prayer Breakfast attendees to be inspired through continued, fresh engagement with God’s Word through this Bible resource.
  • Kingdom Purposes: Pray for those who gathered from various political, social, and business circles to find truth and inspiration in God’s Word. May they advance God’s kingdom purposes in the days ahead.
  • Wisdom and Guidance: Ask God to illumine his Word to the leaders who gathered at the National Prayer Breakfast, bringing wisdom and guidance through the Scripture.
