The Prayer Snapshot: “An Advent to Remember”

In Episode 5 we share 4 Advent prayers for you and your loved ones

Waiting. We’ve done a lot of it this year. We’ve waited for quarantine periods to end, loved ones to recover, covid-19 vaccines, solutions to social injustice issues, and election results.

Many of us would agree, there is both joy and pain in waiting.

It reminds me of one of my favorite scenes from the popular new show ‘The Chosen’. Andrew the fisherman rushes to tell his brother Simon Peter the good news- Jesus, the long-awaited Messiah, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world- is finally here! But Simon doesn’t believe him. His mind must’ve been racing with thoughts like, “Could it be true? Could the Messiah really be here?”

But it was true! Thousands of years of waiting was finally over. Jesus had come.

This Advent Celebrate that Jesus is Here

Advent is a sacred season of waiting. It is a season of expectation, anticipation, and hope for the coming of our Savior Jesus. Advent celebrates that Jesus came as a baby into the world at Christmas to purchase our salvation and that he will come again to take us to our eternal home in heaven.

This Advent, in a year filled with so much pain, loss, fighting, and division, we not only reflect on Christ’s first and second coming, we rejoice in knowing that he is here now. Like Simon, it’s time to acknowledge, Jesus has come.

In this episode of The Prayer Snapshot we take time to focus on Jesus’s presence in our lives every day. We discuss what’s available to us now as we anticipate the second coming of Christ. Listen as we pray for God to fill you with hope, peace, joy, and love in what has been a disruptive year. We also hope you’ll enjoy a new resource entitled, “Hymns of Praise: A 7-Day Christmas Devotional” created just for you.

As we both long and ache for the final return of Jesus, let us remember that Jesus was born Christmas day so that we can enjoy an abundant life now.
