Ukraine Update: “Thanks to You—Our Faithful Prayer Warriors”

Read this note from our partners on the ground in Ukraine thanking you for your prayers

It’s been one year since the war in Ukraine began, and your prayers continue to have an immeasurable impact on the lives of those affected.

Here is a note we recently received from our Bible Society partners on the ground in Ukraine thanking you for your prayers.

Dear Prayer Warrior,

Friends from around the world often ask me: How do I explain the incredible resilience displayed by the Ukrainian people in the face of death and destruction? My answer is simple:

Thank God we have the Bible.

That’s why I’m so eager to deliver this message of thanks to you—our faithful prayer warriors and generous caregivers. Because of you, more than 800,000 new Scriptures have now been printed and deployed in the Ukrainian and Russian languages.

They are being distributed alongside life-giving aid like water, medicine, and bread—both within Ukraine and in countries receiving refugees.

I’m especially glad that we’ve launched our first round of trauma healing camps for Ukrainian children. These precious little ones have lost so much. They need to experience the love of Jesus now more than ever. The Bible can help them process their pain and find healing in the arms of their heavenly Father.

As we shine the light of Jesus in the midst of so much darkness, our Bible Society volunteers are now known as the “Angels of Kyiv” by our grateful countrymen. I am truly blessed to serve with such a courageous and compassionate team.

I also feel that God has surrounded our ministry with a legion of generous “angels” from around the world. You are one of those angels! Thank you for sending physical and spiritual aid to the people of Ukraine in our hour of need. You are standing behind all those Bibles. We feel your love and care.

From your grateful brothers and sisters in Ukraine.

We praise God for the courage and commitment of Bible Society staff and volunteers who share God’s Word with hurting Ukrainians.

And we thank God for you—our faithful prayer partners—without whom this work would not be possible.

Keep Praying for Ukraine!

As our partners in Ukraine continue to bravely put their lives in harm’s way to distribute Bibles and Scripture materials, we urge you to keep praying. Scripture encourages us to, “Never stop praying, especially for others. Always pray by the power of the Spirit. Stay alert and keep praying for God’s people” (Ephesians 6:18 CEV).

Here are specific ways you can pray.

  • Pray for an end to the war. Pray for an immediate end to the war. Pray for the peace of Ukraine.
  • Pray for divine protection. Please continue to pray for protection for the Bible Society team and volunteers.
  • Pray for healing. Pray for God to heal the people of Ukraine physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Pray for the success of children’s Trauma Healing groups.
  • Pray for Ukrainian refugees. Pray that refugees will receive housing, schooling, jobs, and necessary support. Pray for those showing great generosity towards them.
  • Pray for the church. Pray that believers will be strengthened in their faith, and that they would boldly proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ.
