Prayer Request: Pray for Bible Translators
A roadmap to guide your prayers for Bible translators
Today, more than 165 million people have no Scripture available in their heart language, and more than 1 billion people lack access to a full Bible in their heart language.
Thankfully there are translators working tirelessly to complete Bible translations so that people can experience the life-changing message of God’s Word.
But these Bible translators need your prayers for the challenges and obstacles they encounter.
Background and Context
There are more than 1,700 Scripture translation projects in progress across partnering Bible agencies, and Bible translators often have to persevere in the midst of trying circumstances. Many lack key resources such as computers, software and internet access. Others need training because their languages have never been written.
As the work of Bible translation moves into more areas of the world that are particularly hostile to Christianity, some of the greatest challenges come in the form of oppression, persecution and fear.
Prayer Topics
Here are a few topics with Scripture verses to guide you as you pray for Bible translators around the world.
- Protection from violence
God is our shelter and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. (Psalm 46:1 GNT) - Courage to persevere
Don’t be afraid. I am with you. Don’t tremble with fear. I am your God. I will make you strong, as I protect you with my arm and give you victories. (Isaiah 41:10 CEV) - Provision for daily needs
I pray that God will take care of all your needs with the wonderful blessings that come from Christ Jesus! (Philippians 4:19 CEV) - Justice in their local communities
His royal power will continue to grow; his kingdom will always be at peace. He will rule as King David’s successor, basing his power on right and justice, from now until the end of time. The LORD Almighty is determined to do all this. (Isaiah 9:7 GNT) - Unity within their countries and local churches
I urge you, then, to make me completely happy by having the same thoughts, sharing the same love, and being one in soul and mind. (Philippians 2:2 GNT) - Freedom from oppression
The Spirit of the LORD God has taken control of me! The LORD has chosen and sent me to tell the oppressed the good news, to heal the brokenhearted, and to announce freedom for prisoners and captives. (Isaiah 61:1 CEV) - Faith
So then, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message comes through preaching Christ. (Romans 10:17 GNT) - Wisdom in work and in life
But if any of you lack wisdom, you should pray to God, who will give it to you; because God gives generously and graciously to all. (James 1:5 GNT)
