Reaching Indigenous Families in Guatemalan Villages with God’s Word
Join us as we pray for End-to-End Ministry to deliver God’s Word to Guatemalans
Known as the heart of the Mayan World, Guatemala is a country rich in culture and natural beauty. But this beautiful country has beautiful people who have never heard the name, Jesus.
About 44% of Guatemala’s population is indigenous. These indigenous peoples live in geographically isolated communities and speak a language other than the official language of Guatemala—Spanish. In fact, 22 of the 25 languages spoken in Guatemala are indigenous languages, and many of them still do not have any portion of Scripture.
End-to-End Ministry Brings God’s Word to Life
For Guatemala’s indigenous communities to learn about their Creator, they need God’s Word in their heart language. Since 1989, Bible Society of Guatemala (BGS) has worked to translate God’s Word into Guatemala’s indigenous languages and provide those translations in audio format because of high illiteracy rates in these communities.
In 2018, BSG launched the End-to-End Ministry. End-to-End is a proven process for fulfilling the Great Commission by allowing unreached people to watch, listen to, read, and experience the transformative power of the gospel. Participants in this program go through four steps: watch a Gospel Film, listen to the New Testament, read your own Bible, and join a local church.
End-to-End has not only helped reach indigenous communities in Guatemala with God’s Word, but it has also helped equip churches to effectively share the gospel and disciple their congregants.
We’re happy to report that by the end of 2020, more than 21,000 people have seen the JESUS Film. Hallelujah! Lives are being transformed through the understanding of Scripture. People are forgiving those who hurt them, relationships are being restored, and youth are reading Scripture.
But there is still more to be done. BSG needs your prayers, as they plan to expand into new indigenous communities and different language groups. Will you join us as we pray for the beauty of God’s Word to reach every indigenous person in Guatemala?
Let’s Pray Together
Father, we thank you for working in the lives of indigenous communities in Guatemala. We pray that everyone in Guatemala will have a chance to hear the gospel in their heart language through the End-to-End program. We pray for strength, encouragement, and provision for BSG as they expand into more territories. God, may your name be praised throughout the nation of Guatemala.
