Most seminary students in China can’t afford resources like commentaries, concordances, and Bibles in the original Greek and Hebrew. It takes most of their money just to pay the tuition bill.
The support of American Bible Society’s financial partners is providing these resources to students like Li Qiang*, and they are making a real difference in his education and his life.
Li Qiang attends a seminary in China. As part of his program, he enrolled in an intensive, two-year study of Hebrew, but he didn’t own a Hebrew Bible. With the gifts of our financial partners, Li Qiang was provided with a Hebrew Bible. His fellow students who are learning Greek received a Greek Bible.
Li Qiang says that reading the Bible in Hebrew brings him closer to God than when he reads the Bible written in his heart language.
“I realized that learning Hebrew is not just learning a language, but learning to know God,” he says.
In his studies, Li Qiang is learning all facets of God. The God who created every corner of the universe. The God who parted the seas so his people could escape their captors. The God who used a young shepherd to topple a giant. Just imagine the kind of in-depth teaching that Li Qiang will be able to pass on to spiritually hungry Chinese people over the years.
It is through the generosity of our financial partners that Li Qiang is being equipped to teach God’s truth and help people interpret the Bible correctly.
“This course is not just to better understand the Bible, but not to misunderstand it, and to know God better,” he says.
